Growing up in Weaverville, in the 60s and 70s, was fun. A big part of that fun was going to our own "5 and 10" and visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Hayes. Over the years, I would see them around town, and they would always call me by name after 35 years. As a couple, they have always been a wonderful asset to Buncombe and Madison. Mr. Hayes will be missed by many, and especially by his wife.

Mary and Family,
My prayers are with you in the death of Bill. Bill gave me my first job at the Eagle 5&10 in Elizabethton, TN while I was in high school. You have remained friends all these years since. I have always appreciated that he taught me to do the best of my ability at whatever I do and learn from mistakes. This has contributed to my success in the retail industry and life. Those good memories of him will remain with me.
