GERALD CLYDE ROGERS
WEAVERVILLE – Gerald Clyde Rogers, age 68, of Dula Springs, died Monday, June 5, 2017.
Mr. Rogers was born July 21, 1948, in Buncombe County. Gerald was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He was the son of the late Gus and Nellie Colley Rogers and was preceded in death by sisters, Betty and Ruby Penland, Linda Doan, Louise Jenkins and Mary Ann Parham; brothers, Frank, Don, Harold, Roy and Thurman Rogers.
Surviving are his daughter, Kimberly Rogers; son, Brian Gerald Rogers; sister, Esther Robinson; grandchildren, Abby Rogers, Sabastian Rogers, Phoenix Bailey and Paris Bailey; two great-grandchildren, Oliver and Indigo; his best friend, Leonard Searcy.
His funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2017 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Reverends Lanny Cobb, Larry Rogers and Michael Penland officiating. Burial will be 12:00 noon in Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
At other times, the family will be at the residence.
Flowers are welcome.

Pop was like a second dad to me,I could talk to him about anything and he wouldn't judge me,he has lived in the trailor beside me for as long as I can remember.things are not going to be the same without not seeing him,I try so hard to console my dad,he has been in tears everyday,he was one of pops best friends.my mom loved him as well,my family would always help pop in times of need.and its hard to believe he is gone.I will never forget pop he had a place in my heart.
