Doris was born October 1, 1920 in Buncombe County to the late R. P. and Della Mae Gosnell Bradley. She graduated as Salutatorian of the class of 1938 at Woodfin High School. Mrs. Honeycutt was such a Godly woman with her demeanor of meekness and mildness, always seeing the good in every person. She was truly the Proverbs 31 woman. Doris was so supportive of her husband in the ministry and was the “behind the scenes” lady preparing meals for whoever came to her table, she knew how to show her spiritual gift of hospitality. In her younger years, she taught Sunday School at Long’s Chapel Baptist Church and later became a faithful member of Westview Baptist Church that her husband, Rev. Horace Honeycutt had pastored, and of which she attended until her health prevented her from attending. Her life was centered around her love for the Lord, the desire to serve Him and the love of caring toward her family and friends, she showed her compassion to anyone in need. She had a gift of service to others, caring for her mother & mother-in-law until their deaths. Doris nurtured her children and grandchildren and was always there to help in any way possible. Everyone in her family admired her for being the strong matriarch that they all wanted to be like. She was our Prayer Warrior. We always knew momma was praying us through whatever we were involved in. We will cherish her memory and the example that she left behind.
