Obituary
BARNARDSVILLE – Betty Lou Banks, age 83, of Dillingham Road, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, January 8, 2018 at home with her loving family by her side after a long courageous battle with cancer.
Betty was a loving and faithful wife to her husband of 67 years, William Reece Banks, and was his dedicated caregiver for 27 years, until his passing in 2015. She was an excellent gardener, cook and loved playing her piano. She loved to have her children gather around her piano and sing. Two of her favorite hymns were “Amazing Grace” and “How Great Thou Art”. Betty was a faithful member of Carson Chapel Baptist Church, where she served as pianist. Betty’s love for Christ was reflected through her testimony and all that she did. She was a great influence to many and was loved dearly. She will be greatly missed. Also preceding her in death are her parents, Harold and Texie Burleson Dillingham, and sons, Larry and Everette Banks.
Surviving are her daughters, Jean Brigmon and husband Ray, Joan Pruitt and husband Jim, and Lorraine Burleson; sons, Curtis Banks and wife Becky and John Banks; sisters, Alice Emory and Patricia Weatherly; eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 13, 2018 in Carson Chapel Baptist Church, Barnardsville. Reverends David Crowder, Anthony Fox and Scott Dotson will officiate. Burial will be in Thomas F. Dillingham Cemetery, Barnardsville.

Dear Family, I was saddened to read of the passing of your dear loved one. I know Betty has been sick for sometime and now she is at rest with her Lord and family that went before her. Dear Joan and Jimmy, Our hearts and prayers are with you and the family. We know how difficult it is to lose a Mother. I wish we had known your Mother, but I know just from our phone conversations how very much you loved her and how special she was to all of the family. You are going to have some beautiful and special memories to be thankful for as she was a special person. It is wonderful to read about her church and her piano music and know she is in Heaven. Our prayers are with you.
Love, Phyllis & Mike Wellman

Dear Jean, Ray and family,
Our prayers are with you during this most difficult time. I know what it feels like to lose a mother so deeply loved, so grounded in the Lord and having such a passion for music. My mother played the violin. I can only imagine the wonderful music our mothers are singing and playing from Heaven!
