Adelaide Ann Wright Williamson

ASHEVILLE – Adelaide Ann Wright Williamson, age 90, of Asheville, died Sunday January 14, 2018. Mrs. Williamson was born August 23, 1927 in Buncombe County where she lived all of her life. She was a daughter to the late Carl Andrew and Alda Mae Duncan Wright. Adelaide enjoyed gardening and canning. She loved her grandchildren. She worked at The Hadley Corporation and at Burlington Industries and was a member of Pine Burr Baptist Church. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James “Jim” Williamson who died in 2006; sisters, Alice Rice, Madeline Cole, Ruby Baynard; brothers, Garland and Andrew Wright. Surviving are her daughters, Charlene Cox, Sandra Cassels, Selina Payne, and Carolyn Skipper; ten grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and fifteen great-great grandchildren. Her funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, January 18, 2018 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave. Weaverville. Reverend Jim Moore will officiate. Burial will be in West Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service at the funeral home. The family requests memorials to West Funeral Home to assist with final expenses.
