Agnes Elizabeth Connell Higgins

WEAVERVILLE—Agnes Elizabeth Connell Higgins, age 95, of Clarks Chapel Road, died Tuesday, August 14, 2012. Mrs. Higgins was born May 4, 1917, in Flat Rock and was a resident of Buncombe County for most of her life. She loved to knit and was retired from Mills Manufacturing Company. At the time of her death, she was the oldest member of Flat Creek Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Graham C. and Nora Wilkie Connell; husband, William Troy Higgins who died in 1993; brothers, John, Charles, James, Graham Cubrow, Donavan, and Douglas Connell; sisters, Margaret Lingerfelt and Ruth Carter. Surviving are daughter, Peggy Higgins and husband Timothy J. Gallaway of Weaverville; son, Rev. William Connell "Bill" Higgins and wife Carol Blair Higgins of Weaverville; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 18, 2012, at Flat Creek Baptist Church with Revs. Bill Higgins and Brian Hanrahan officiating. The family will greet friends following the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery at a later date.
