ALFRED LAWRENCE “ROOTER” RICE BARNARDSVILLE – Alfred Lawrence “Rooter” Rice, age 77 of Barnardsville died Thursday, March 3, 2016. Mr. Rice was born June 22, 1938 in Buncombe County to the late Oliver “Boots” Rice and Ossie Williams Rice. He was a Veteran of the United States Army and retired from Southern Railway. Surviving are his daughter, Tonya Warren; sons, Tim and Terry Rice; brothers, Bill and Michael Rice; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A memorial service for Mr. Rice will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 12, 2016, in Pisgah Forest Freewill Baptist Church, North Fork Rd., Barnardsville, with Reverend Dean Metcalf officiating.
