ASHEVILLE – Allie Jo Cox, age 85, of Asheville, died Thursday, September 27, 2018.
Allie was born October 18, 1932 in Madison County to the late James and Effie Kent Cole; she was a resident of Buncombe County for most of her life. Allie was married for 56 years to the late Frank H. Cox, who died in 2004. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Cox.
Surviving are her daughters, Glenda Meadows, Dorothy Pruitt and husband Rev. Willard Pruitt, Bobbi Cox, and Linda Hicks and husband David; sons, Jerry Cox and Jackie Cox; sister, Faye Hensley; brothers, Gaye Cole and Wayne Cole; grandchildren, Tonya Ingle, Maegan Cox, Matt Cox, Stacy Meadows, Cyndi Meadows, Amanda Meadows, Nick Burleson, Michael Cox, Brandon Pruitt, Brian Pruitt and Amber Hicks; twenty-six great-grandchildren including Jessica Meadows who was like her daughter, and six great-great-grandchildren.
Her funeral service will be held 2:30 pm, Wednesday October 3, 2018 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Avenue, Weaverville. Reverend Willard Pruitt will officiate. Burial will follow in Green Hills Cemetery, Asheville.
The family will receive friends, one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
