ALTON BOWLIN
WEAVERVILLE - Alton Bowlin, age 84, of Weaverville, died Saturday, August 1, 2015 at his residence.
Mr. Bowlin was born March 5, 1931 in Wilkes County and was a resident of Buncombe County for most of his life. He was a hard worker who loved kids and very dedicated to his family. He retired from Drexel and was very well respected by everyone who knew him. He was a member of Brown's Chapel Baptist Church. He was a son of the late John and Queenie Coffey Bowlin and husband of the late Marie Gregg Bowlin who died in 2011. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Lonnie Bowlin; and sister, Bessie Parsons.
Surviving are his daughters, Karen Hutchinson and husband Jay of Leicester, Wilma Boone of Asheville, and Vickie Bowlin of Weaverville; son, Bruce Bowlin of Weaverville; sisters, Mae Ballard of Weaverville, Daisy Davis of Mooresville, and Zina Ballard of Weaverville; six grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 5, 2015, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville. Burial will be in Maney Branch Cemetery, Weaverville.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
