In Loving Memory of Amelia “Molly” Montoya
Amelia “Molly” Montoya, born in 1929 in Las Cruces, New Mexico, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 13, 2024 at her home in Asheville. Her devoted husband, son and daughter-in-law were by her side.
Molly's life was marked by love, resilience, and unwavering dedication to her family. She first married Candelario Cardon, and together they welcomed their only daughter, Sylvia. Tragically, Candelario died serving his country in World War II, leaving Molly to raise their daughter with strength and grace.
In 1962, Molly met and married the love of her life, Ernesto Leandro Montoya. Together, they embarked on an adventure that took them through their academic pursuits at New Mexico State University and Texas A&M University, ultimately leading them to settle in Santa Teresa, NM. It was here that they created a loving home and adopted their cherished son, John Ernest Montoya.
Molly was a woman of remarkable style and grace, known for her inner and outer beauty. Her warm personality endeared her to everyone she met, and she devoted her life to supporting her husband and family. Molly's culinary talents were unparalleled, and she was highly regarded as a fantastic cook of all cuisines, bringing joy and comfort to her loved ones through her delicious meals.
Molly is preceded in death by her daughter Sylvia and eight siblings: Alecia, Ernesto, Salvador, Jesus, Jose, Luis, Gonzalo, and Israel. She leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication, cherished by her husband, Ernesto; her son, John, his wife Camille, and her grandchildren, Austin, Tatum, and Max Montoya.
Molly's memory will forever be a source of inspiration and comfort to all who knew her. Her style, grace, and unwavering devotion to her family will be remembered and celebrated by all whose lives she touched.
