ANDREW “JOE” LUNSFORD CANDLER – Andrew “Joe” Lunsford, age 81 of Candler went home to be with the Lord Friday, March 24, 2017. Joe was born June 29, 1935, in Buncombe County to the late Reverend John and Sallie Lunsford. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Harold Lunsford, and sister, Margie Robinson. Surviving is his wife, Elba Lunsford; son, Jeff Lunsford and wife Melissa; daughters Jackie Waller and husband Tom, Natalia Clark and husband Owen, Raquel Arana and husband Ronny; grandchildren Joseph and wife Rebekah, Benjamin, Callie, John, Maria and husband Patrick, Matthew, Malachi, Daniela, David, Sophia, and Isabela; great-grandchildren Elijah and Ethan; brothers Steve Lunsford and Bruce Lunsford; sisters Pat Pounders and Beverly Barrett. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 28, 2017, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Pastors Randy Bray and Jeff Lunsford officiating. Private burial will be in Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain. The family will receive friends Tuesday, 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Temple Baptist School Scholarship Fund, 985 ½ Patton Ave., Asheville, NC 28806, in memory of Joe Lunsford.
