ASHEVILLE – Anita H. Shelton, of Asheville, passed away at The Laurels of Green Tree Ridge on Sunday, September 30, 2018.
Anita was a native of Oklahoma, the daughter of the late Howard H. and Stella Mae Harlson. She moved to Miami, Florida as a new bride and resided there until she and husband Richard Shelton, retired to Asheville in 1988. She was a registered nurse, a graduate of Miami Dade Community College’s Associate in Science in Nursing.
Anita was a devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church of Weaverville, where she loved teaching a women’s Sunday School Class, as well as other Bible studies, after becoming a member there in 1989. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband Richard.
She is survived by her daughter, Janet Diecidue and husband Lou; son, Richard H. Shelton and wife Sue; grandson, Christopher Shelton and wife Olivia; granddaughter Jennifer Satterwhite; great-granchildren, Emma Marie and Ella Sue Satterwhite; brother, Howard Harlson and wife Barbara; three nieces and one nephew.
A service of celebration of Anita’s life will be held Saturday October 6, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the First Presbyterian Church, Weaverville. Reverend Skip Gillikin will officiate. Burial will follow in West Memorial Park.
