BARNARDSVILLE—Ann Morgan Edwards, age 69, of Buckner Branch Rd., died Sunday, April 8, 2012, at Solace Center in Asheville. Mrs. Edwards was born January 6, 1943, in Buncombe County. She taught in the Buncombe County Elementary School System for 26 years. Many of her former students have stayed in touch over the years. Ann was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She enjoyed having family get-togethers in her home. She loved nature, especially her flowers, and was an avid gardener. Ann was a member of Ivy Hill Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Creed and Jamie Dillingham Morgan. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, James Woodrow Edwards, Jr., who died in 2004; brothers, Cecil and Jack Morgan; and sister, Faye Hunt. Surviving are her daughters, Woodeane MacDonald and Amy Herron and husband Brian; grandchildren, Sammy MacDonald, Daniel MacDonald, and Nora Ann Herron; step grandchildren, James MacDonald and Melanie Herron; brothers, Ray Morgan and wife JoAnne, and Roger Morgan and wife Marcella; sisters, Jo Edith Burchfiel, Betty Hensley, and Minerva Jones. Her funeral service will be held at 2:30 PM Thursday, April 12, 2012, in Ivy Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Worth Emory officiating. Burial will be in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Wednesday at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, where the body will remain until placed in the church one hour prior to the service. Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Ivy Hill Baptist Church, Honduras Mission Fund, c/o 9 Emory Woods Dr., Weaverville, NC 28787.
