ALEXANDER—Anna Mae Parris, age 87, of Alexander Road, died Monday, June 18, 2012.
Mrs. Parris was born September 16, 1924, in Buncombe County. She was a charter member of Alexander Baptist Church where she served as pianist for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Commodore R. and Elsie Woods Haney; and husband, William Marion Parris, Jr., who died in 2003.
Surviving are her son, Charles Stephen Parris and wife Carolyn; grandson, Michael Shook; brothers and sisters, Donald Haney and wife Mildred, Kathleen Parris and husband Tony, Trula Aiken and husband Vascal, Virginia Stevens and husband Tom, and Charles Haney and wife Doris; and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, June 21, 2012, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Rev. Gerald Sprinkle officiating. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
