Anne Self Buckner

WEAVERVILLE – Anne Self Buckner went home to her Heavenly Father on Friday, March 25, 2016. Anne was born September 24, 1964 and grew up in Weaverville. She was the daughter of the late Glenda Williams Self and Joseph Self. Anne was a dedicated and loved employee of Broadbooks Associates for 18 years. She was most at home hiking in the woods where she was surrounded by nature. Surviving are her husband of 30 years, Jeffrey Dean Buckner; daughter, Monica Anne Buckner; grandson and joy of her life, Garrett Noah Buckner; brother, Joseph William Self and wife Sajja Koirala; dearest friend, Elizabeth Sue Cheek; god daughter, Jaimie Christine Cheek; mother and father-in-law, Wilburn and Ponese Buckner; sister-in-law, Vickie Buckner Benkelman and husband, David; cherished companions, Curly and Sadie and many other loved family members and friends. During the last years of Anne’s life she was lovingly cared for by her husband, Jeff along with her lifelong friend, Elizabeth Sue Cheek. The Lord truly blessed Anne and Sue with an unconditional friendship and sisterhood. Together, Jeff and Sue ensured that Anne’s last years of her life were filled with love and laughter. Anne’s husband and family give their greatest gratitude to Sue. Her funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, March 28, 2016 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home with Rev. Marjory Kiess officiating. Burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
