Annie Blanche Rice Szott

Annie Blanche Rice Szott, age 81 of Weaverville, went to meet her Lord and Savior on Monday, May 8, 2023 with her family by her bedside.  Annie was born July 2, 1941, in Madison County as the only child to the late Hugh Roosevelt and Theoria Kent Rice. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband and father of her children, David Randall Clark, Sr.; and husband, Casimir Szott. She resided in Buncombe County for most of her life.

Annie was an avid poetry writer, and she loved her dogs.  She was very proud of working at the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Department, she also worked as a legal assistant at a law firm.  Annie was a member of Newbridge Baptist Church.

Surviving are her daughters, Deborah Clark and Donna Clark; son, David Clark, Jr. and wife Lisa of Pompano Beach, FL; grandchildren, David Fish and wife MacKenzie, Rebecca Clark, Emily Williamson and husband Hardy; Andrew Godleski and wife Ashlyn, and Holly Clark; great-grandchildren, Gavin Fish, Averie Fish, Caroline Williamson, and Maddox Fish.

Her funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 11, 2023 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Reverend Zane Edmonds officiating.  Burial will follow at Bull Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Marshall.  Serving as pallbearers will be Kenny Phillips, David Fish, Andy Godleski, Andrew Godleski, Aaron Edmonds and Brandon Edmonds.

At Annie’s request, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to Bull Creek Baptist Church c/o Tammy Merrill, PO Box 164, Mars Hill, NC 28754.  Please designate your check to the Cemetery Fund.
