Annie McCarter, age 89, of 32 Upper Herron Cove Road, died Saturday, February 16, 2013.
Mrs. McCarter was born December 26, 1923, in Transylvania County and was a resident of Buncombe County for most of her life. She was formerly employed at Mills Mfg. and volunteered at North Buncombe Samaritan Ministry, she was also a former member of the Eastern Star. Mrs. McCarter is a daughter of the late William Cleveland & Wilma Warren Whitaker Baldwin, and wife of the late Harry Lee McCarter who died in 1993.
Surviving are her daughters, Judy Hollifield and husband Zane of Travelers Rest, SC, Brenda Bishop and husband Ronnie of Weaverville and Betty Hyder and husband Delano of Elizabethton; sisters, Evelyn Prince of Mountain Home and Janice Shelton of Flat Rock; nine grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren and one great great grandson along with several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. McCarter will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 19, 2013, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Rev. Al Harrell and Rev. Dolph Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
