ANTHLEAH “ANN” TOMBERLIN
WEAVERVILLE – Ann Tomberlin, age 92, beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend went to be with her Lord and Savior Tuesday, April 26, 2016.
Ann was born in Asheville on May 15, 1923 to the late Otis Norris and Bertha Spivey Norris. Ann has always had a love for her Lord and her church, Mt. Bethel Freewill Baptist Church. She enjoyed her flowers, and walking every day. She deeply loved her family and friends and was truly good to everyone.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Atkins who passed away in 1968 and husband, Grady Tomberlin who passed away in 2000; brothers, Frank, Herman, James, and Percy Norris; sister, Mary Ann Ingle; son-in-law, Buddy Ray; and granddaughter in law, Angela Atkins.
Remaining to cherish her memory are her two sons, Tommy Atkins and wife Cherie of Fairview, Charles Atkins and wife Elese of Asheville; her only daughter, Darlene Ray of Oakley; nine grandchildren, Lisa West (George), Kevin Atkins (Christine), Lori Bridges (Matt), Tammy Fincher, Chet Atkins (Tammy), Dawn Atkins, Brady Ray (Alex), and Steven Ray (Amy), Charlie Holcombe (Kelly); thirteen great grandchildren, Kailyn Wintenburg (David), Jordan West, Khristian Atkins, Chase Redmon, Brendon Atkins, Brittany Killian (Matt), Brandy Bridges (Levi), Brooke Bridges, Trace Fincher, Erin Fincher, Jessie Ray, Aviana and Damien Holcombe; and eight plus one on the way great great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff of Emerald Ridge Nursing Facility for their dedication and loving care of Mrs. Tomberlin.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 29, 2016 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Reverend Roy McPeters officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Enka.
The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
