ARLEE MASTERS BANKS
ASHEVILLE - Arlee Masters Banks, age 89 of Asheville died Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at the Brian Center, Weaverville.
Mrs. Banks was born December 17, 1925 in Unicoi County, TN and was a resident of Buncombe County for most of her life. Her hobbies were cooking, flowers, traveling, and she was a skilled seamstress. She retired from the Naval Weather Service and was a lifetime and very active member of Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church.
She was a daughter of the late Abraham Lincoln and Lucy Hampton Masters. Also preceding her in death were her husband, Walter James Banks who died in 1988; sisters, Frances Masters, Helen Masters, Ruth Beck, Louise Gaddy; and brothers, Cecil and Walter Masters.
Surviving are her daughter, Ellen Banks; son, Jim Banks and wife Kathy; grandchildren, Travis Banks, Scott Banks, Joseph Goodwin, William Goodwin; best friend, Lois Glenn; and several beloved nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, November 6, 2015, in Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church, 171 Beaverdam Rd., Asheville, with Reverends David Warren and Daniel Gaddy officiating. Burial will be in Banks Cemetery, Laurel Valley, NC, with Reverend Toby Anderson officiating.
The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville.
