Audrey Bowen Thomas

WEAVERVILLE—Audrey Bowen Thomas, age 90, of Monticello Road, died Sunday, April 8, 2012. Mrs. Thomas was born August 15, 1921, in Buncombe County where she had lived all of her life. She was a 1939 graduate of Weaverville High School and was formerly employed at Hadley Corporation in Weaverville and retired from Square D Company. Audrey was a member of First Presbyterian Church and a member of the Golden Friends Club and Women of Church Circle Group. She was preceded in death by her parents, O.T. and Erie Cole Bowen; and husband, George L. "Tommy" Thomas, who died in 2002, whom she married December 7, 1941. Surviving are sons, David Edward Thomas and wife Sandra Duck Thomas of Apex, and John Leonard Thomas of Weaverville; and grandson, Joshua David Thomas of Raleigh. Her funeral service will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, April 11, 2012, in First Presbyterian Church of Weaverville with Pastor Skip Gillikin officiating. Burial will be in West Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Tuesday at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville.
