Barbara "Bobbie" Lowana Carson

Barbara “Bobbie” Lowana Carson, age 88, of Weaverville went to be with the LORD and was welcomed into the Gates of Heaven by her beloved Grandson Cody Fender, family, and friends, on Sunday morning, September 22, 2024.

Bobbie was born March 12, 1936, in Buncombe County to the late Fred J. and Abbie Holcombe Carson. She retired from Asheville Surgery Center, Mission Hospital. Bobbie was an avid reader and enjoyed her flower gardening, especially her roses. 

The love of our mother is there, like the love of God, no matter what. It never runs out. Moms who love their children well understand that children are a gift from God, regardless of their behavior in the moment. They know how to provide for their children in ways no one else can. That is our Mother, Bobbie Carson, and will be in our hearts Forever.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Cody Fender, sisters - Ruth Sams, Mildred Carson, and Sara Carson.

Surviving are her daughter, Jennifer Fender and husband Don of Weaverville; Terry “Chief” Hensley and wife Sherry of Statesville, Charles “Charlie” Hensley and wife Ronda of Alexander, Keith “Chub” Hensley and wife Melina of Barnardsville, and Gary “Cloud” Hensley and wife Cathy also of Barnardsville; sister, Sandy Hensley of Barnardsville; 13 grandkids and 21 great grandchildren.

Ms. Carson’s funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, September 25, 2024, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home with Rev. Nelson Ponder officiating. Burial will follow in Absalom Dillingham Cemetery, Barnardsville.

The family will receive friends from 9:45 to 10:45 am prior to the funeral on Wednesday.
