WEAVERVILLE – Barbara Jean Gilliam Williams, age 79, passed away on June 22, 2024, at The Greens at Weaverville after a short battle with cancer.
Barbara was born November 7, 1944, in London, Kentucky. She was the only child of the late Eugene and Dessie House Gilliam. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, George Walton Williams.
Barbara was a 1962 graduate of Lily High School in London, KY and attended Sue Bennett College. George and Barbara lived in many different places during his service in the Army, and settled in Fredericksburg, Virginia to raise their family. They then further traveled North America in their RV during retirement before returning to London, KY where she loved participating in her quilting group, the Laurel Silver Threads. In later years the couple moved to Holiday, Florida where she was a member of Gulf Coast Fellowship Church in Palm Harbor.
Barbara is survived by her daughter, Tammy Blackburn and husband, Kevin; and granddaughter, Jessica Blackburn and husband, Adam Palermo.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 6 at Gulf Coast Fellowship Church. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to Gulf Coast Fellowship Church.
