Beatrice Hensley

BARNARDSVILLE - Beatrice Hensley age 90 died Sunday, February 1, 2009. Mrs. Hensley was born March 15, 1918 in Buncombe County where she had lived all of her life. She retired from Grove Park Inn after 18 years of service. She was an avid student of the Bible and a charter member of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher and a member of the choir. She attended Victory Tabernacle in East Flat Rock. She is the daughter of the late John Moten and Cora Webb Allen, and the wife of the late William Guy Hensley who died in 1965. She is preceded in death by all of her three sisters and one brother, and her son, William Vernon Hensley. Surviving are her children, Garnett Dillingham of Barnardsville, LaTona Hensley of Wellford, SC, Michael Hensley of Fruitand Park, Fl., Merrill Hensley of Hendersonville, Beaty Hensley of Barnardsville, Elva Towe of Boiling Springs, SC. and Sidney Hensley of Fletcher; eleven grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 4, 2009 in the chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville with the Reverend Lawrence Russell officiating. Burial will be in the West Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Flowers are acceptable and appreciated.
