Bernice Ray Griffin

BERNICE RAY GRIFFIN FLORIDA—Bernice Ray Griffin, of Fruitland Park Fla., went to be with the Lord, on Monday, April 28, 2008, after a period of declining health. She was a native of Buncombe County, born on October 8, 1924, to the late Eskie and Delpha Ray of Weaverville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elijah Buster Griffin; a son, Michael Daniel Griffin; two granddaughters, Joanna and Michelle Griffin; two sisters, Evelyn Ward and Vivian Zuver of Asheville; two brothers, Willis "Bill" Ray and Carroll Ray of Weaverville. Bernice is survived by two sons, Wayne Griffin and wife Sharon of Morganton; Jennings Griffin and wife, Donna of Fruitland Park Fla.; three grandsons, three granddaughters and ten great grandchildren; her sister, Joyce Roberts and husband Clarence of Asheville; a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and loved ones. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of West Funeral Home, 17, Merrimon Ave., Weaverville with the Rev. Preston Church officiating. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory in Asheville. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
