BERTIE MAE ALLEN DODD CANDLER - Bertie Mae Allen Dodd, age 93, of Candler died Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at Pisgah Manor. Mrs. Dodd was born June 3, 1921 in Yancey County to the late Reuben Allen and Elizabeth Jones Allen. Bertie was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. She is preceded in death by her husband Bascombe Dodd. Surviving are her daughter, Athylene Lipe of Candler; son, Arthur Dodd and wife Beverly of Candler; sisters, Marie English, Katherine Price, brothers, Ed Allen, Arnold Allen; seven grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Her graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 21, 2015, in Metcalf Creek Cemetery, Mars Hill, with Reverend Jim Moore officiating. Flowers are welcome.
