Bessie Mae Rudd

WEAVERVILLE—Bessie Mae Rudd, age 90, of 78 Weaver Blvd., died Friday, January 18, 2013. Mrs. Rudd was born October 18, 1922, in Clarke County, Alabama, and was a resident of Greenville, S.C., for a number of years. She had resided in Weaverville since 1994. She was a great mother, a seamstress, enjoyed quilting, was an excellent cook, and enjoyed gardening. Bessie Mae formerly attended Weaverville United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Jefferson and Mittie Chancey Wilson; and former husband, James Rudd. Surviving are her sons, Doug Rudd and wife Rhonda of Weaverville and Rex Rudd and companion Cheryl Mark of Greenville, S.C.; sister, Annie Mae Eberleine of Jackson, Ala.; grandson, Travis Rudd; good friend and caregiver, Kathleen Blackwell and husband Don and daughter Kira. Her funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Monday, January 21, 2013, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville with Rev. Jim McCoy officiating.
