Betty Marie Rice Fox

ARDEN – Betty Marie Rice Fox, age 88, passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at Givens Estates Health Center. Her family was by her side lovingly caring for her during her final weeks.

Betty was born on September 24, 1935, in Madison County to the late Alexander and Agnes Bishop Rice. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jackie Travis Fox; her son, Jason Travis Fox; and her sister, Josie Rice.

Betty grew up in Woodfin and lived most of her life in Buncombe County. The most important thing in her life was that she loved her family. She was a homemaker in every sense of the word, and attended Fletcher First Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughters, Debra Davis and husband Jerry of Arden, and Pamela Gibbs and husband Steve of Arden; sister, Jean Roberts of Weaverville; brother, Richard Rice of Woodfin; grandchildren, Gunne Davis, Ashley Tolbert, Teisha Lewis, and Trevor Gibbs; great-grandchildren, Analee, Avery and Anaiah Davis, Sawyer and Victory Tolbert, and Declan and Adler Gibbs.

Betty’s graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 29, 2024, at Mt. Bethel Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery, 290 Sheppard Branch Road, Weaverville. Her grandson, Rev. Gunne Davis will officiate.
