WEAVERVILLE– Betty Adams Gaddy, of Weaverville, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 11, 2018.
Mrs. Gaddy was born August 12, 1935 in Madison County and was a resident of Buncombe County for most of her life. She retired in 1997 after 20 years with AB Emblem. Betty attended Cole’s Cove Baptist Church for many years. She enjoyed singing and had one of the purest alto voices you will ever hear. Betty sang with the group “Generations” for many years. She was the daughter of the late Gay and Alda Corn Adams; and the wife of Daniel Gaddy who died in 1994. She was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Wayne Carroll in 2018; and her brothers, Doug and Arthur Adams.
Surviving are her daughters, Kathy Gaddy Whitson and husband Curtis of Weaverville, Marsha Gaddy Carroll of Burnsville and Jennifer Gaddy Austin and husband Tracy of Leicester; brothers, Hartsell Adams of Asheville and Doyle Adams of Old Fort; grandchildren, Calvin, Vanessa and husband Justin, Hannah and husband Ben, and Rachel Grace; great-grandchildren, Kenzie, Kylie, Dolly and Ada; along with many nieces and nephews; and her two very best friends, Ardath Peeke-Rice and Shirley Robinson.
Her funeral service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday, May 14, 2018 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville. Rev. Steve Penland will officiate.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2018 in Clark’s Chapel Cemetery, Weaverville.
The family will receive friends 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, May 14, 2018 prior to the service at the funeral home.
At other times, the family will be at the residence of Curtis and Kathy Whitson, 11 Reems Trace Road, Weaverville, NC.
Flowers are acceptable and appreciated.
