Betty Campbell Morton

ASHEVILLE – Betty Campbell Morton, age 82, of Asheville, died Sunday, January 21, 2018. Betty was born October 15, 1935 in Johnson City, TN to the late James and Georgia Jackson Campbell, and was a resident of Buncombe County since 1970. She formerly worked for Peanuts Grocery and Valley Park Grocery. Betty was a member of Piney Grove Methodist Church in Johnson City, TN. Also preceding her in death are her husband, Durwood Jackson Morton who died in 1987 and son, Thomas James “Buddy” Morton. Surviving are her daughters, Patty White and husband John, Sarah Honeycutt and husband Bruce, Debra Ward and husband Joseph; sister, Gladys Hughes; brothers, Sid Campbell and Jimmy Campbell; grandchildren, Evan, Aaron, Caroline, CJ, Nathan, Jerod, Lisa, Joey, Jennifer and Jeffrey; and several great grandchildren. Her graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 27, 2018 in Lewis Memorial Park. Reverend Elisha “Bud” Fish will officiate. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 26, 2018 at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave. Weaverville, NC 28787.
