Betty Roberts Penley

WEAVERVILLE—Betty Roberts Penley, age 88, of 272 Hamburg Mountain Rd., died Tuesday, April 16, 2013. Mrs. Penley was born October 9, 1924, in Buncombe County where she had lived all of her life. She was the former owner of Kentucky Fried Chicken Restaurant in Hendersonville. Betty was a member of Weaverville United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Ervin and Verlin Burrell Roberts; brother, J.B. Roberts; and sister, Mary Jo Henderson. Surviving are her son, Joe Penley of Weaverville and several nieces and nephews. Her funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, April 19, 2013, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Rev. Linda Kelly officiating. Burial will be in West Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:15 to 2:15 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The family would like to thank CarePartners Hospice for all their help.
