WEAVERVILLE—Betty Benfield Pike, age 82, of McCurry Rd., went home to her Heavenly Father on Saturday, October 13, 2012.
"Bett" was born February 22, 1930, in Burke County. She loved gardening, cooking, and caring for her family and friends. She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church. She loved being "Mom" to all. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles L. and Cleo Setzer Benfield; brothers, Jim Benfield and Bill Benfield; sisters, Claudina Benfield and Louise McClure.
She was a beloved mother to her children, daughter, Katie Pike; sons, Danny Pike and wife Brenda, Tommy Pike and wife Susan, Bobby Pike, all of Weaverville, Ricky Pike and wife Christy of Alexander; also she is survived by her, sister, Joyce "Monk" Crawford of Michigan; brother, Jerry "Dude" Benfield of Horse Shoe; grandchildren, Heath Pike, Ross Pike, Jamie Edmonds and husband Josh, Colby Pike and wife Laura; and great grandchildren, Gracie and Brody Edmonds.
Her graveside service will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday, October 17, 2012, in Flint Hill Cemetery with Rev. Michael Flack officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville.
At other times the family will be at the home of Danny and Brenda Pike, 36 McCurry Rd., Weaverville.
