Mrs. Roach was born November 1, 1922 in Buncombe County. She was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II. She was the daughter of the late Horace N. and Alta Harwood Webb and wife of the late Nokel D. "Bob" Roach who died in 1990.
Surviving are her children, Joan Roach of Barnardsville, Nokel D. "Buddy" Roach, Jr., and wife Dee of Lakebay, WA, Tom Roach, and Janet Lyons and husband Jeffrey of Barnardsville; five grandchildren, Mark Roach, Jessica Gibson of WA, Mead Lyons, Forest Lyons, and Kyle Roach; and six great grandchildren. She knew where to find Balm of Gilead, wild ginger, and yellow root.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 25, 2014 in the Chapel at the John F. Keever Solace Center, with Chaplain Butch Stillwell officiating. Private Burial will be in the Veteran's Section of West Memorial Park.
The family would like to thank Dr. Barnhardt, and nurse Susan Marler and the staff at the Solace Center. Special gratitude goes to Marlene and Gail for always being present with their time and love. Mama was blessed with loving, attentive nieces and nephews and generous neighbors. We will miss our Mama and remember her always, especially when the streams are stocked with trout, Christmas presents are opened, the Atlanta Braves take the field, and when it's time to feed her tomcat, Stretch.
