WEAVERVILLE—Betty Henline Roberson, age 85 of 297 Reems Creek Road died Saturday, August 18, 2012. Mrs. Roberson was born February 18, 1927 in Spruce Pine to the late Paul and Gladys Bradshaw Henline. She was a graduate of Harris High School in Spruce Pine and attended Cecil's Business College. Betty lived most of her life in Buncombe County and was formerly employed at Merrill Lynch and Matthews Motors. A member of Newbridge Baptist Church, she enjoyed her flower gardening, feeding the birds and was an avid bridge player. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Wayne J. Roberson. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Jack Roberson; son Russ Roberson and wife Cynthia and grandchildren, Alex and Emilee Roberson of Weaverville; daughter-in-law, Betty Ann Roberson of Weaverville and her son Rick Chapman and wife, Tempe and their children, McKenzie and Jackson of Raleigh; sister, Nancy Jordan of Conover and brothers, Bob Henline of Raleigh and Buzz Henline and wife Reva of Asheville. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 24, 2012 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Rev. Clark Henderson officiating. Private burial at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory will be at a later date. Family will greet friends following the service. Memorials may be made to Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity, 33 Meadow Road, Asheville, NC 28803. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of the Brian Center Weaverville for their excellent care of Betty.
