WEAVERVILLE—Beulah Ballard Hemphill, age 96, formerly of the Ox Creek community, died Thursday, January 14, 2010.
Mrs. Hemphill was born October 25, 1913, in Buncombe County. She was a daughter of the late W. Dennis and Minnie Smith Ballard. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Troy Hemphill; daughter, Betty Hemphill; brothers, Clarence, Clyde, Burley, Buren, Willie and Jay Ballard; and sister, Nola Bradley.
Surviving are her sisters, Myrtle Roberts and Mae Bradley, both of Weaverville, Elinor Tarvin of Brunswick, Ga.; several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Hemphill's funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 17, 2010, in Salem United Methodist Church, with Rev. Darrel Bowles officiating. Burial will be in Brank Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville.
