ASHEVILLE - Billy Dean Clayton, age 78, died peacefully Monday, December 16, 2013 in Asheville.
Mr. Clayton was born May 9, 1935, in Butler, Oklahoma. He grew up in Southern California and after marrying and having children he moved to Springfield, MO. While living in Springfield he worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier, retiring in 1990. After retirement he managed the family farm. In 2011 he relocated to NC to join his family. He was the son of the late William Lester and Veta Klein Clayton and was also preceded in death by brothers, Lea and Wayne Clayton; and sister, Glenda Clayton.
Surviving are his daughters, Deanna Peltz and husband Mike of Weaverville, and Kate Clayton and wife Jennifer Yates of Berkley, CA; sister, Noreen Loveland and husband Jerald of Springfield, MO; sister-in-law, Marie Clayton of Bolivar, MO; brother-in-law, David Robbins of Las Vegas, NV; grandson, Jason Peltz and wife Amita of Asheville; great granddaughters, Lucy and Riley Peltz; along with much loved niece and several nephews.
Private services will be held in Weaverville and a Celebration of his life will be held July 4, 2014 in Missouri.
