BILLY HENSLEY
WEAVERVILLE - Billy Hensley, of Weaverville, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 15, 2015.
Mr. Hensley was born in Weaverville, on November 16, 1928 and married Joyce Radford Hensley in 1949. During his life, he was active in fishing and enjoyed gardening, was a charter member of the Optimist Club earning many Optimist of the year awards, and was a superintendent of Duyck Construction Company for 30 years. In recent years Billy enjoyed playing with his great grandchildren. He was the son of the late Richmond Pearson and Ora Spears Hensley. He was also preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.
Billy is survived by his wife of 65 years, Joyce Radford Hensley; sons, Jim Hensley and wife Camilla, and Roger Hensley and wife Wanda; sisters, Dorothy McKinney, Betty McKinney and husband Jerry, and Norma S. Webb; six grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, May 21, 2015, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Reverend Brian Hanrahan officiating.
The family will greet friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers, friends may send memorial contributions to the Children's Ministry c/o the Adult Sunday School Class, Flat Creek Baptist Church, 21 Flat Creek Church Road, Weaverville, NC 28787.
The family believes that when someone passes, their life does not end but rather changes. We know that Billy has reached a place of everlasting peace alongside Jesus Christ. While we grieve his passing, with our grief comes the lightness of hope.
