Blaine W. Banks, age 93, of Barnardsville died peacefully at home Wednesday, May 24, 2017 surrounded by the love of his family; whom he loved dearly.
Mr. Banks was born March 31, 1924 in Buncombe County. He was a farmer all of his life and a veteran of World War II where he served in the U.S. Navy.
Blaine was the son of the late Edward M. and Elizabeth D. Scott Banks. He was preceded in death by brothers, Scott, Parks, Frazier and Mack Banks; sisters, Joyce Banks and Leora Shope. Blaine was married to Betty Edwards Banks one month short of 67 years.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his sons, Terry W. Banks and wife Karen of Barnardsville, Ivan B. Banks and wife Anne of Petroleum, WV, Chris L. Banks and wife Lorrie of Barnardsville and Jeremy L. Banks and wife Candice of Albuquerque, NM; sisters-in-law, Carolyn “Tillie” Banks, Carol Banks and Mildred Banks all of Barnardsville; brother, Fred Banks and wife Ruth of Midway, TN; grandchildren, Josh, Zach and Isaiah Banks, Terica Honeycutt, Kerry Tomberlin, Blaine and Ben Banks, Caroline Depriest, Brandon Banks, Marshall, Madeline, Meredith and Miles Banks; step-grandchildren, Ella, Ethan and Aiden; and fifteen great-grandchildren; special niece, Sandy Wells and husband Bruce; special friend, Ronald Harwood; and special caregivers, Chris and Lorrie Banks and John Judd.
His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 28, 2017, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Reverend Richard Hicks officiating. Burial will be in West Memorial Park with military honors.
The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home.
