BRENDA PORTER LANKFORD WEAVERVILLE – Brenda Porter Lankford, age 87, of Weaverville died Wednesday, August 17, 2016. Mrs. Lankford was born October 7, 1928 in Birkinhead, England to the late William Henry Porter and Florence Woodworth Porter. Brenda had lived in Buncombe County since 1954 and had worked as a school secretary at North Buncombe and Red Oak. She was a member of Flat Creek Baptist Church where she enjoyed church activities as long as she could. Preceding her in death are her husband, Paul Ray Lankford, Sr., who died in 2009; sister, Anne Walls and brother, Geoffrey Porter. Surviving are her sons, Paul Jr. and wife Terry, Larry, Kenneth and Terry Lankford; brother, Kenneth Porter; grandchildren, William, Amanda, Meaghan, Riyan; and 3 great grandchildren. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 19, 2016, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Rev. Brian Hanrahan officiating.
