BRUCE D. DEBRUHL
SWANNANOA - Bruce D. DeBruhl, age 81, of Swannanoa died Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at his home.
Mr. DeBruhl was born January 5, 1934 in Buncombe County where he was a resident for most of his life. Bruce was a graduate of Berea College in Kentucky and was a college professor and dean at several universities. He was an avid gardener who enjoyed yard work and was very active in civic activities in the Swannanoa Valley. His philanthropic gestures have touched many lives in Buncombe County. A son of the late Elmer Woodrow and Nesta Edwards DeBruhl he is also preceded in death by aunts, Rose and Joy Edwards, Gertrude Brown, Margie Aiken, Reeda Miller, Macy Bailey, Eula Rhymer and Mary Lee Lisenbee; and uncles, Robert Edwards, Ernest, Troy, Allen and Joe DeBruhl. He is survived by one aunt, Beatrice DeBruhl.
He will be remembered by many close friends, neighbors and members of the Swannanoa Valley community.
A private burial was held.
Those wishing to gather in remembrance may do so at his grave on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in Oak Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery, 350 Flint Hill Rd., Alexander, NC 28701.
