C. Ray Edwards

     WEAVERVILLE – C. Ray Edwards, 77, of Weaverville, went to be with the Lord on April 13, 2024, at the Charles George Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Asheville.

     He was born on November 12, 1946, to the late Ernest and Florence Edwards. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his infant son, Darrell Edwards.

     Ray served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He later worked at Parnell Martin and Plumbing Supply Company, and was a member of Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church. He loved spending time with family, playing softball, and sitting on his porch.

     He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Patsy Rice Edwards; son, Chris Edwards and wife Becky;  daughter, Stephanie Frisbee and husband Daryl; sister, Doris Wilson; brother Rev. Larry Edwards and wife Joyce; three grandchildren, Tyson and Hannah Edwards, and Savannah Frisbee.

     Ray’s funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 20 at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Rev. Keith Watkins and Ray’s brother, Rev. Larry Edwards, will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church from 12:00 noon to 2:15 p.m. Burial will follow at the church cemetery with military honors being provided by the US Army and the American Legion Post 317 in Marshall.
