CALVIN WILLIAM PLEMMONS ASHEVILLE – Calvin William Plemmons, age 83, of Asheville died Monday, September 19, 2016. Mr. Plemmons was born January 18, 1933 in Madison County and was a resident of Buncombe County for most of his life. He was employed with the U.S. Government for 35 years and a Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Plemmons was a member of Light of Life Baptist Church. A son of the late Farida and Viola Haney Plemmons, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Wiley, W.O., and Blaine Plemmons; sisters, Elsie Culbertson and Lillian Matthews. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Doris Ingle Plemmons; daughters, Marsha Eller, Sherry Conner and husband Bill; sons, Randy Plemmons and wife Rose, Jeff Plemmons and wife Barbara; sisters, Helen Riddle, Joy Radford; brothers, J.R., David and Dean Plemmons; 10 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Plemmons will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 23, 2016, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Pastor Mark Crowder officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the residence.
