DR. CARL SERRES ASHEVILLE – Dr. Carl Serres, age 88, of Asheville died Tuesday, October 4, 2016. Dr. Serres was born June 2, 1928 in Hartland, Wisconsin to the late Carl S. and Beatrice Hartling Serres. He graduated from University of Minnesota with a Ph. D. in Chemistry and worked as a Research Chemist at Amoco Chemical Corp. for 32 years. He received 27 U.S. patents during his career. Carl met his wife, Darla, in Bergen, Norway. Together they traveled to 100 foreign countries. He was a member of Newbridge Baptist Church. Surviving is his wife, Darla Mullenix Serres. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 7, 2016, in Lewis Memorial Park, Beaverdam Rd., Asheville with Pastor Clark Henderson officiating. Flowers are acceptable and appreciated. West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville is in charge of arrangements.
