Carol Duncan Sweet

ASHEVILLE – Carol Duncan Sweet, age 77, of Asheville, passed away on October 12, 2023, at Stonecreek Health and Rehab. Carol was born on April 16, 1946, in Oregon City, Oregon. She was the daughter of the late Fred Denham Patton and Melba Hinshaw Patton.

Carol was a writer.  She wrote creatively, and also in her career in non-profits, securing grants for projects to support addiction programs. Carol graduated from the University of Oregon with majors in English and French. An adventurous spirit, she taught English as a Second Language in the Czech Republic and South Korea, and she loved France.

She is survived by her sons, Peter Baxter and his wife Valerie, and Adrian Baxter; granddaughters, Kassondra and Vanessa; sister, Frances Shoemaker and her husband Ronald; and life partner, William B. Wilson, Jr.
