WEAVERVILLE—Carolyn Griffin Justice, age 70, of 96 Maney Branch Rd., died Saturday, December 19, 2009. Mrs. Justice was born August 27, 1939, in Buncombe County where she had lived all of her life. She retired from the State of North Carolina as the assistant manager of Vance Birthplace. Mrs. Justice was a member of South Fork Independent Methodist Church, of which she was a lifelong member and where she served as a long-time Sunday school teacher and treasurer. She was a daughter of the late Leroy and Martha Cole Griffin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Don Griffin, and sisters, Ruby Phillips and Norma Lance. Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Dean Justice; sons, Larry Justice and wife Wendy, Jeff Justice and wife Beth, all of Weaverville; brothers, Leroy Griffin and wife Diane of Weaverville, J.V. Griffin and wife Nancy of Fletcher, Dwain Griffin of Ohio; grandchildren, Lindsay, Leslie, Levi, and Hannah. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 23, 2009, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Rev. Don House officiating. Burial will be in West Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at West Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the residence. The family would like to thank the staffs of the Oncology Unit at the St. Joseph's campus, Cancer Care of Western Carolina, and John F. Keever Solace Center.
