CAROLYN SUE PENLAND RAINWATER WOODFIN – Carolyn Sue Penland Rainwater, age 78 of Woodfin died Wednesday, March 2, 2016. Mrs. Rainwater was born March 24, 1937 in Buncombe County where she had lived all of her life. She was retired from Kmart on Patton Avenue and a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Carolyn is the daughter of the late Aubrey William and Grace Laster Penland and wife of the late Garlen Rainwater who died in 1993. Surviving are her sons, George Robert Rainwater and wife Jennifer; Rodney William Rainwater and wife Marlene; five grandchildren, five great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Her graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 7, 2016, in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, 270 Overlook Rd., Asheville, NC 28803 with Reverend Cecil Robinson officiating.
