ASHEVILLE – Charles Douglas “Doug” Fisher, age 67, of Asheville died Friday, February 19, 2021.
Doug was born July 2, 1953 in Buncombe County to the late James and Edna McHone Fisher; he lived in Buncombe County all of his life. A graduate of North Buncombe High School, he also received a Master’s Degree in Education from Western Carolina University. He was a self-employed plumber. Doug loved to golf, and was a loyal supporter of North Buncombe Sports and local restaurants. He was a member of Locust Grove Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James Eddie Fisher.
Surviving are his sisters, Mary Jane “Janie” Boone of Asheville and Evie Cordelia Wells and husband Richard of Greer, SC; brother, Thomas Fisher and wife Judy of Weaverville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, February 24, 2021 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home. Rev. Jim Moore will officiate. Burial will follow in Mainer-Fisher Cemetery.
Per the NC Governor, masks are required. Those who choose, may listen to the service on their car radio by tuning into FM 87.7, while in the parking lot of the funeral home.
