Christine Thomas

LEICESTER—Christine Thomas, age 83, of Leicester died Thursday, May 2, 2013. Mrs. Thomas was born August 15, 1929, in Buncombe County. She retired from Square D in 1992 after 23 years of service. She was a member of Newfound Baptist Church. Her devotion and love for her family was her life's greatest treasure. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bart and Jennie Watkins Anders; husband, Joe G. Thomas who died in 2004 after 58 years of marriage; brothers, Charles and Herbert Anders. Surviving are her daughters, JoAnn Roberts and husband Gaylen of Canton, Ga., Sharon Smallwood and husband Marty of Gainesville, Ga., and Judy Whitlock and husband D.C. of Leicester; sister, Virginia Ramsey of Weaverville; brother, Gene Anders of Fairview; grandchildren, Heather Whitlock, Colie Hayes, Kelly Coqueran and husband Jay, Beth Baysden and husband Jon, Karen Weldon and husband Mike; and five great grandchildren. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 5, 2013, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Rev. Bob Moon and Rev. Jeff Maynard officiating. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
