Clair Eugene Brown

BURNSVILLE – Clair Eugene Brown, age 92, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2023. 

Mr. Brown was born in Ashtabula, Ohio on December 24, 1930 to the late Clair Eugene Brown and Ruth Rebecca Cedarquist Brown.

As an irrigation specialist and landscaper, his career included many interesting projects for golf courses, polo fields, and installation of waterfalls.  Mr. Brown was always involved with nature.  He loved plants, gardens and flowers, bird watching, and feeding wild animals.  He donated his time to assist the Yancey County Humane Society, and also adopted many cats and dogs. 

 In addition to his parents, Mr. Brown was preceded in death by a son, Leslie D. Brown; a daughter, Barbara Brown; siblings, Douglas Brown and Dolores Anders; wife and mother of his children, Norma; and a wife, Patricia.

Surviving him are his sons, Duane Brown and wife Dorothy of Alabama and Hugh Brown of Florida; daughter, Jennifer Green of Florida; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and partner, Linda Illes.

A memorial service will be held at 11am on Saturday, April 29, 2023 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home with Rev. Skip Gillikin officiating.
