Clayton Eugene \ Kuykendall

ASHEVILLE—Clayton Eugene "Gene" Kuykendall, age 68, died Saturday, June 18, 2011. Mr. Kuykendall was born Feb. 4, 1943, in Buncombe County where he had lived all of his life. He retired from Tencarva in 2006. He was a veteran of the US Army. He was a member of Alexander United Methodist Church. Gene was a son of the late Clyde and Christine Slatton Kuykendall. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Margaret "Maggie" Higgins Kuykendall who died in 2006; and his sister, Pat Kuykendall. Surviving are his daughters, Kim Kuykendall and husband Philip Hooper of Houston, Texas, and Kelly McDaris and husband Rodney of Weaverville; brother, Harry R. Kuykendall of Asheville; two grandchildren, Baylee and Rylee McDaris. His funeral service will be held at 2:30 PM, Wednesday, June 22, 2011, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Revs. Marjory and Ray Kiess officiating. Burial will be in West Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the home of his daughter, Kelly.
