WEAVERVILLE—Clifford Roland "Pudgy" Morgan, age 76, of Weaverville died Sunday, October 7, 2012. Mr. Morgan was born August 19, 1936. He was a native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County. He served in the US Army, most of his time spent in Germany. He was a graduate of Oakley High School and Western Carolina College. During his career, he taught at Oakley, Bell and Red Oak. He was also the supervising counselor for vocational rehabilitation and dropout counselor at North Buncombe Middle School. He was a son of the late Charles and Evelyn Morgan. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Catherine Coe and husband Willard; brothers, Warren and wife Mary Frances, Henry, Leonard, and Herman; and sister-in-law, Barbara Morgan. Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Lois Carter Morgan; sons, Barry Morgan and Daryl Morgan and his wife Stephania; granddaughters, Heather and Hayley; brothers, Bobby Morgan and his wife Betty and Hutch Morgan; sisters-in-law, Mildred Morgan and Retha Freeman; and several nieces and nephews. He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church. He was a loved husband, father, grandfather, teacher, counselor, and friend and will be missed. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at Salem United Methodist Church with Revs. Michael E. Flack, H.L. Wilson and Adam Lowe officiating. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory with military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 5483, Mars Hill Memorial Team. Serving as pallbearers will be his nephews, with the Oakley Oaks serving as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, where the body will remain until placed in the church one hour prior to the service. At other times the family will be at the residence. Flowers are welcome. Memorials may be made to Salem United Methodist Church, 9 Salem Church Rd., Weaverville, NC 28787.
